Mr. Milan Markovich founded Independent Systems Consultants (ISC) as a professional IT consulting firm serving the Chicago, Illinois business community. It provides IT services directly, and evaluates and recommends IT resources, service providers and solutions to it's base of clients. ISC also designs and develops custom applications for a wide range of business needs. As a licensed CPA in 1978, his business background is used to apply technology to today's business solutions.

Company Roots and Business Philosophy

Independent Systems Consultants (ISC) is a privately held IT consulting firm based in the Chicago, Illinois metropolitan area. Mr. Milan Markovich returned to the Chicago area and started this firm in 1990 after founding his original firm, Palm Beach Group Inc. (PBG). Mr. Markovich was one of two founding partners of PBG in 1984. PBG's founders successfully served many major organizations in the private and public sectors in South Florida including IBM, Eastern Airlines and Southeast Bank. PBG was created as a world class professional IT consulting organization modeled after the consulting practices of the then “Big 8” accounting firms. PBG competed against those firms and was also approached by one of them in a buyout attempt that was rejected. Since then, our philosophy has proven correct with all the remaining Big 5 accounting firms having now fully divested themselves of all consulting service operations.

The professional consulting philosophy of PBG continues within ISC. That philosophy places primary emphasis upon the needs of the client. We believe those needs are best served only if the consulting firm retained can be truly independent of all outside resources such as hardware, software and other services required by the client. We accomplish this by remaining completely independent of those vendors with no business relationships existing between our principals, associate professional staff or contractors. We also have no “alliances” with IT vendors that many other firms offering IT consulting services do. We believe that only when this arm’s length distance is scrupulously maintained, can a consulting firm truly render the best services to its clients. Our clients expect no less from us.

This independence allows us to select the best resources for our clients' IT needs from local and worldwide marketplace. Simply put, we believe the client always comes first, and we are their unbiased portal to the worldwide IT marketplace, ensuring their interests are best served. We earn our fees through service – not product margins. The result of those services rendered will enable our clients to manage their businesses more efficiently and effectively, returning long term benefits and profits many times over the cost of our service.

Over the last ten years especially, many IT services and products have become commoditized. This is both good and bad, but the trend is certain. This commoditization will continue. The benefits are of course declining cost and increasing performance. This is most obvious in the hardware and networking sectors. One key detriment is there are fewer choices and less innovation than when the industry was young. Globalization and enhanced communication capabilities has encouraged the out-sourcing of many technical services to Asia and around the world.

We see our mandate to evaluate and recommend the best combination of services and products available in the global IT marketplace and synthesize the best choices available to our clients that demonstrate the benefits to the client of each. We are able to leverage these ever-changing worldwide resources to our client because of our independent localized IT business experience. Any engagement will draw upon a combination of local and global resources, depending upon the unique client requirements.
